Know what each SKU still needs for its EU battery passport
From February 2027, EV, light-means-of-transport and industrial batteries over 2 kWh sold in the EU need a Digital Product Passport under Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.
Elara shows, SKU by SKU, which passport data you have and which you're still missing, tracks what your suppliers owe you, and keeps the deadline in view.
Passport readiness
- Completeness by SKU — progress across the passport's data clusters for every SKU, with what's missing and why.
- Supplier coverage — which suppliers have provided their data and which haven't.
- Deadline timeline — where each SKU stands against the compliance date.
- Bulk intake — bring in product data in bulk instead of SKU by SKU.
- Reports for approval — Elara drafts advisory reports and requests; a person approves them before they're sent.
Shopify app and public passport page
- Attach a passport to a product — the SOCIII passport app for Shopify links a passport record to the product.
- QR code on the product page — a theme block shows the passport link and QR code on your storefront.
- Public viewer — anyone who scans the code sees the passport page — no account needed.
What Elara doesn't do yet
Elara tracks registry status, but submission to the EU passport registry is not yet automated, and it never invents a registry ID. It won't call a SKU compliant until its passport is actually registered.
Questions
Which batteries need a Digital Product Passport?
Under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, EV batteries, light-means-of-transport batteries and industrial batteries over 2 kWh placed on the EU market need one from February 2027.
Does Elara submit passports to the EU registry?
Not yet. Elara tracks registry status; automated submission isn't built. It will never show a registry ID it wasn't issued.
Do I need Shopify?
No. Elara's readiness tracking works on its own. The Shopify app is for merchants who want the passport link and QR code on their product pages.
Can customers check a passport without an account?
Yes. The public passport page opens from the QR code with no sign-in.
What does it cost?
Elara is free through 2026, with no subscription or card required.
