Getting started with Reed
Reed can read and send email, use your calendar and read your Drive files only after you connect them. You do it once, in Settings, and every worker shares it. Then you check that email works by sending yourself a test.
Connect Google
- Open Settings and find the Integrations card.
- Gmail: tap Connect. Sign in with the Google account you send from and allow it. The row says "Connected for sending only. Workers can send from your address; nothing reads your inbox." That is enough to send. If you want Reed to find replies and threads, tap Also let workers read this inbox. To add a second address, tap + Add account.
- Google Calendar: tap Connect. The row says "Connected as <your account>. Workers can read your schedule and propose events."
- Google Drive: tap Connect. The row says "Connected as <your account>. Workers can browse and import your Drive files." Reed uses Drive for the links on your governance documents.
- If a row says the sign-in expired, tap Reconnect.
Check that email works
- Open Reed's chat and say: "Email me a test. Subject: Reed test."
- Reed shows a card titled "Email to <your address>", with the subject and the full text, and two buttons: Approve and Don't send. Nothing has been sent yet.
- Tap Approve. The card says it was approved and sent. Check your inbox: the email comes from your own address.
- To check the other connections, ask "Find the last email from <someone>" (needs inbox reading) and "What's on my calendar tomorrow?"
If Google isn't connected, Reed says so in one line and points you to Settings. Any request to send email, search email or use the calendar gets that answer until you connect.
Reed's setup checklist
Open Reed. It opens on the Pipeline tab, and the first thing there is the Reed setup bar: "N of M steps done", a progress bar and "Next: ...". Tap Show all steps to see them:
- the company, directors, share classes and cap table
- SAFEs and notes
- the current round
- the investor pipeline
- outreach (whether Gmail and Calendar are connected)
- governance settings and documents
A step is done only when its real record exists, never because a box was ticked. Some steps say "coming" (directors, SAFEs and notes, governance settings): they aren't built yet. Ask "What's left to set up?" and Reed walks you through the next step.
The setup bar and the Pipeline tab are visible to the workspace owner, admins and investor-relations members.
